This effect is based on a summary of the short story by W. W.
Jacobs entitled “The Monkey’s Paw.” The summary can be
found on the internet at sparknotes.com. While this effect
follows the original story to a point, the conclusion is
substantially different and provides the opportunity for a little
magic and some serious reflection by audience members.
A family receives the opportunity to have three wishes
granted. The first two are granted, but not in any way to the
satisfaction of the family. A third wish remains…perhaps for
you?
